  1. “We have to look out for each other and honour each other”….This statement here by Paddy should be the creed adopted by everyone, white or black, Christian or Moslem or Hindu, Sikh or Jew and whatever sexual orientation. The answer to what is needed to have a better world.

    • Oh dear ! Should I say good afternoon from here to Arsenal Supporters best buddy…..none other than Mr Chaloner himself! Good start for our nothern friends so far. Are you ready for the derby? I am.

    • Ray Samuel Jr G’Day fella. MU will win of course and slowly the world will return to its correct axis turning on the Theatre of Dreams. Never understood racism; grew up in Manchester in the 50s and 60s as it became a melting pot of races coming in from Europe (Irish,Poles and Czechs) and the Commonwealth. Interestingly there were tensions almost immediately but they weren’t always between original residents and arrivals initially. Also Manchester was a strong Jewish community which anyone I knew was a source of pleasure. For me, my surname is French, I am from a line of German Jews, Scots, Irish and Anglo saxon and I just do not comprehend racism. My father marched against Moseley (fascist Blackshirts)and fought in WW2 with Kiwis, Aussies, S Africans, Americans, Sikhs Gurkhas,Poles and Nigerians. Eventually forgave the Germans, struggled with forgiving the Japanese(,but got there!) There are heaps of things I disagree with but understand but racism is incomprehensible and overlays fascism-one thing I believe we still need to guard against vigilantly. It is all interlinked (to my unsophisticated mind anyway). Am grateful for all the friendships I have across a very broad cross section of humanity and look forward to connecting with you all when I visit UK again next year. No idea what got me started!!

  2. I’m Irish, Yorkshire and Scottish – which was actually a cause for prejudice when I was young. Irish = stupid; Scottish = mean; Yorkshire = mean. That was it – oh, and I was left-handed as well! Nope, I wasn’t black skinned – and yet still I faced that type of stupidity.
