I have spent much of the past 20 years answering questions, and latterly posts, about race, racism, inequality, the distinction between black lives matter and all lives matter, and why if I’m talking about “save the whales” it doesn’t mean stuff the dolphins. As it stands, too much of my time is being taken up with that pursuit so I’ve put this Blog together to save repeating myself, which leaves my time free to do the work. Dear residents and partners, The tragic and unnecessary killing of George Floyd in Minnesota last week has caused widespread anger and dismay across the world. His death at the hands of the police, and the subsequent demonstrations have shone a light on enormous challenges in the US and in many countries: deep inequalities, state and police brutality and the systemic racism that exists in our societies.
