Finding the one key to changing or transforming your life

So what is THE key to transformation, or as I call it TranceFormation?

This is a question I get asked a lot.  Even if people don’t ask the question directly, I can see it in their eyes, or hear it in their voice.  That undertone that says: “Just tell me the one thing that I need to do.  That one thing I need to change.  Give me that magic key that will just unlock everything!”

The one big key to transformation
The one big key to transformation

People are often looking for that one big key.

Now there is some good news, and some not so great news.

The good news is that you can indeed unlock a ton of stuff and have your life change dramatically literally overnight.

The not so great news is that there isn’t always just one universal thing that you have to do in order to achieve lasting change and transformation.

Oh, and the other good thing is that there is sometimes one key thing, the thing that when you uncover it and release it, is a serious game changer.

A myriad of keys

Many keys and routes to unlocking your potential
Many keys and routes to unlocking your potential

In my experience there have often been a myriad of keys, some big, some small, some in between.  Sometimes those keys are linked, and unlocking one allows for a process of unravelling.  At other times there might be a couple of issues that standalone in isolation.

For me a big key was the limiting belief that I’m not good enough and not worthy.  That was an underlying and unconscious set of beliefs that insidiously and unknowingly coloured my entire life right up until the age of 32.

For others it might be the repeating and reinforced thought that ‘nothing good ever lasts’ or ‘it’s never really going to work for me.’  For you it might be something completely different.

That, I believe is where some of the confusion and frustration around personal development kicks in.  We kind of live in a fast fix fast food world.  We often don’t want to wait for change or success, we’d like to just do one thing and ‘BAM’ we’re done.

What do you mean it is going to take as long as 10 hours to change 30 years worth of stuff?!!!

When I first started out in this line of work people would complain that my 1-Day Breakthrough Sessions to uncover that elusive key issue was too long.  When you compare that to the fact that they might have been both nurturing their problem for 10, 20, or 30 years, it was nothing in comparison.

Where we are going for the big guns and people undertake my total Life TranceFormation™ Programme, some have recoiled at the thought of spending 3 – 6 months’ working on themselves and really getting to the heart of things.

One size doesn’t always fit all

One size doesn't necessarily fit all
One size doesn’t necessarily fit all

When I first started out on my own TranceFormational journey the keys that went into the locks were NLP, Hypnosis, Time Line Therapy, and a dash of Hawaiian Huna.  I was so impressed with the dramatic change and turnaround in my life that I immediately gave up my Chartered Accountancy studies went on to become a Practitioner, Master Practitioner and Certified Trainer in the first 3 of those disciplines.  I also took myself off to Hawaii to study Huna with the Kahuna’s.

I very successfully used just those modalities for many years.  I also realised that there were clients who wouldn’t even take that first step when using particular approaches because it just wasn’t their thing.  For some Hypnosis was a scary concept, others couldn’t hold the premise that their issues might stem back into the past when it came to talking about genealogy, ancestors, or past lives.

In order to increase both my ability to continue to enhance my own life, as well as offering more flexibility to my clients I went on to train and become a Practitioner in a number of disciplines including, Reiki, EFT, EmoTrance, DNA Theta Healing, Energetic NLP, Positive EFT, Archetypal Profiling, Huna, Quantum Touch, Access Bars, Access Consciousness, OTH (Opening The Heart), Reflective Repatterning, Past Life Regression, Future Life Progression, and Soul Plan Reading.

Why so many modalities?

It wasn’t because none of the other modalities worked; they are all great standalone techniques and approaches in their own right.  It was because I realised pretty quickly that when it came to transformation and change, one size definitely didn’t fit all.

And much as there might be times where I would do a pure Hypnosis or Access Consciousness session with someone, I found it packed a bigger and more powerful punch to be able to blend processes and techniques according to the client sitting before me, or as is often the case, on the other end of the phone or Skype line.

So what are the keys?

Having established there might not be just one thing, what follows are some of the main culprits that I have come across over the years which stop or block people from moving forwards.

Limiting Beliefs – I’ve already mentioned these and the form they might take; the I’m not good enough, not worthy enough, not capable enough etc.

Stuck Emotions – The usual suspects when people talk about negative emotions tend to be anger, sadness, fear, guilt, shame, and anxiety.  With these babies running the show it can be difficult, despite your best efforts to breakthrough and break free.  Out of control fear for example has crushed many a dream in its wake.

Ancestry and Genealogy – People can be held back by their past in ways they might not consciously imagine: “We don’t go to University.”  “That’s the way it has always is in this family.”  “We are oppressed.”  “It’s always been a struggle.”  These words don’t always get spoken out loud.  They often permeate through the fabric of the family and even through society in the form of stereotypes and mass generalisations.

Mindset – It might also be your confused, circular, stuck, or overwhelmed thinking at play.  Some people feel that they can intellectualise their way out of most things, however as Einstein famously said, you can’t solve a problem with the same level of thinking that created it.  If you aren’t able to get out of your own head and out of your own way every once in a while, you can become trapped by thoughts of  your own making.

Where do you start?
Which technique works best with what?

Which technique works best for which problem?

If I were to generalise, typically speaking my favourites for the various aspects and presenting problems include the following:

For working with Limiting Beliefs,  Time Line Therapy.

For negative emotions it would be Time Line Therapy or Access Consciousness.

For Ancestry and Genealogy I tend to use Past Life Regression, Time Line Therapy, or Huna.

Where there is more a sense of just being stuck my favourites are Access Consciousness and even Future Life Progression to take you out of yourself.

Where your mind is working against, rather than with you I use Hypnosis.

For resentment or problems with forgiveness of both self and others I love Huna and the full Ho’oponopono process, which goes beyond the words of I’m sorry, I love you, please forgive me, thank you.  Those words however are a very good start if you don’t have access to the full Ho’oponopono process.

Where people are looking forward and want new strategies and to embed new beliefs I’d go for NLP, Time Line Future Pacing, and Future Life Progression.

Where you feel stuck in your mind or body then Access Bars and EmoTrance can be an amazing way to shift the energy.

For finding a sense of purpose and why you are here on this earth the Soul Plan Reading sessions have proven to be jaw droppingly enlightening to say the least.

Where do you start?
Where do you start?

Where do you start?

With such a vast array of issues on the inside, and numerous processes to choose from on the outside, it can be bewildering to know where to begin.

I’d say start with what resonates.

Look at your life and the things that are no longer working for you, and then look at the various options you are considering.  As you explore and examine each option, do your research, and notice how you feel about it.

For example, at the time I came across the Soul Plan Reports and Readings I wasn’t the least bit interested in adding any further practitioner certificates or modalities to my already large therapeutic portfolio.  I was however so excited by the prospect and what it revealed about my life and for those taking part in the class that it was one of those ‘no brainer’ decisions to become a Soul Plan Reader.

What intrigues or excites you?

So when you think about all of the options and approaches that are available to you, what excites you?  What intrigues you?  What feels like one that will get the ball rolling or open things up for you?

Watch for the ‘Marmite Effect’

Feedback from other people is a good thing, and what I have also come to realise is that a bit like film reviews, where one friend will hate it and another will love it, sometimes you just have to suck it and see.  I know people for example who love EFT and that is the only service they offer because it had been amazingly transformative for them.  I’ve met other people that have tapped away until their fingers were sore, and nada, nothing, no real change whatsoever.

The trap of circular decision making
The trap of circular decision making

Beware the never ending trap

The danger of course is trying everything, looking for that one Holy Grail, and flitting from one thing to the next without giving any of them a chance to really work.

Similar to taking a course of antibiotics, stick with it, and complete what you start before rushing off to the next thing.  Follow it through to its conclusion and commit to making the changes and doing what is necessary.

Sometimes it isn’t about the modality or technique, because changing your life or your mindset can also hinge on making a commitment and doing what is necessary.

The magic pill

And that is the other thing.  As much as all of these techniques and approaches are totally amazing and life changing and mind TranceForming, you often have to DO something.  And yes, I admit, with the way that I mix and blend things there are very often times where my clients are delighted and amazed to find that they don’t really have to do anything except ‘be’, and get on with their lives because the changes seem to happen as if by magic automatically.

However, with many of these standalone approaches you have to do your bit and play your part.  And as I often share with my Magic & Gratitude Programme Groups, don’t expect to just be a passive receiver of the magic the whole time.  To have these wonderful things work for you, you often have to work it.

I am running a Limitless Event later on this year where we explore the Neuroscience behind the movie Limitless featuring Bradley Cooper and show you how you can bring it to life.  The film does centre a  magic silver pill which bestows almost superhuman powers on whoever consumes them.  We’ll be showing you some very cool stuff on the day, and as awesome as it all is, there are still a few things that you will need to do to bring it fully into action.

Even the Law of Attraction has this hidden within the name; Law of AttrACTION.

A Mind Clarity Meditation

A Clarity Meditation

As you consider your possible next steps,  play with the following exercise to help give yourself more clarity.  When you allocate the time and space for it, this can also be a lovely meditative process.

  1. Find a place to sit quietly.
  2. Relax your breathing.  I love the Huna Ha Breathing, however use whatever relaxing breathing practice you have.
  3. Focus on the in-breath and focus on the out-breath.  Do this for about 60 seconds.
  4. Allow the issues or challenges that you are currently facing to come to the forefront of your mind.
  5. Ask yourself: “Of all of the options available to me what shall I now choose?”  The answer might be anything from ‘Do nothing and chill’ to “Go to your bookcase and listen to some of those personal development CDs you’ve got gathering dust on the shelves.” through to “Therapy XYX would be a good one for you.”
  6. You could also ask yourself: “What is my next step?”

I have found this to be a great way to get clarity and clear the mental clutter out of the way.  The answer might not come straight away so remain open to the signals and signs that show up along the way.

Well, I think that is more than enough to be getting on with for now.

I wish you good luck in finding whatever the key is for you.
