I was recently interviewed by Film Maker Ahsan Abbas. He has created a series of films called the Soul Journeys – Ahsan Abbas Interviews Marilyn Devonish, interviewing about who they are, what drives them, and what they are passionate about. You can watch my Soul Journeys Interview here.
Are you on the treadmill of life or walking your souls journey?
Filming this interview did make me think about how this whole other life that I live now first got started. I went from “yawing at half past eleven and watching the clock go round” in my regular day job, to regularly being able to work a “39 hour day” and feel totally energised by that.
Part of it was also about changing the filters through which I saw and viewed the world. My filters up until the age of 32 were the ‘I’m not good enough. I’m not worthy enough. I’m not capable enough’ which then coloured and impacted my view of the world and my place in it.
If you are at one of those turning points. At a place in your life where you know that something, maybe everything needs to change. A place where you might even know what you want to do but are scared of how other people might react or what they might say, then doing a little inventory of your soul and what calls you might be for you.
What is it that calls your soul?
I share in this interview the key question that Oprah Winfrey asked in one of her shows some 25 or so years ago which resonated with me, and stuck with me, even though it took me 20 years to answer it. You of course won’t have to wait that long if you watch this video.
This journey will also be useful for those of you who are looking to start a Coaching or Therapy practice because I share some of my approaches to working with clients, and how to deal with situations where you feel as though you are in over your head. I also discuss how I chose from the 20 or so modalities that I am trained in when deciding on the approach to use with a client.
We also discuss the aspects of healing, and how your emotions can also show up in the physical body.
What is the quote that keeps me sane?
Towards the end of the interview I share the quote that has helped to keep me sane in the midst of things going terribly wrong, and how those devastating events can be a crucial and important part of your life journey.
You might need to sit back and settle down with a cup of herbal tea, or whatever your thing is as you watch this video.
It was great fun to film, and I do hope that you enjoy watching it as much as I enjoyed be part of making it.
