Have You Fallen Into the Apathy Trap?
This is the post that sparked the thought today and delivered the #PhotoReading #AhaMoment and light bulb moment:
This is a post from our Mayor Dorothy Thornhill. For those of you who use this route and travel via Milton Keynes and Clapham Junction you may want to sign.
Do signatures on a petition really mean anything nowadays? I don’t know.
Will keeping quiet and not taking any action stand a chance of change? Absolutely not.
#PeaceOut
So my #CoachingQuestion and #Contemplation for today is: “In some areas of your life have you accidentally fallen into the apathy trap?”
Marilyn Devonish <3
No
It’s about personal choice and the power to exercise your choice. No action is inaction.
Lori Mcclain It almost happened to me today as my fingers hovered over that petition keyboard however my brain fully woke up and was having none of it! 🙂
Patricia Green It really did hit me this this morning. In the grand scheme of things the train petition isn’t major, however the message and reminder that it delivered to me today was BIG . . . . .
I certainly understand, Marilyn. It can be an act of bravery to share one’s position. Yet, when done without bias, it offers a way to engage in critical and meaningful dialogue.
Patricia Green Absolutely, and I do so love a wonderful and mind opening conversations. Many an old and restrictive view have been unearthed and thrown up that way.
Marilyn Devonish so very true.
A bit like If a car is in Neutral it stands idling … until it’s on a hill sloping in direction … in which case it naturally rolls that way without any choice … UNLESS … it chooses a direction and gets into 1st or reverse gear (Action) to influence it’s direction … x
Kalpesh Patel Yes indeed. And, when I’m in apathy there might even be times where I standby and watch a crash happen, almost in slow motion . . . .
I am certainly guilty of that one too… one half wants to save the world because your view and experience allows you to see what many do not and the other says … fuck it, they have to learn their own way … and then we have to choose x
Oh yes, there are those times, a little like trying to hatch a bird from the outside, there are some experiences that are best had, so my conscious choice is ‘non intervention’ . . . . .
agree M… I have questioned this at times also in regards to petitions and yet thought the same… there for certain will be no difference made if I don’t sign 🙂
Kathleen Hall Yes indeed, and observing my thoughts this morning made me go: “OMG! It nearly quietly got me . . . . .” 😱
our thoughts can be sneaky little buggers 😉
I am personally appalled that anyone wants to close down railways lines, especially one that I know in the UK and travelled on! Here in Australia they tore up many lines. It is very hard to undo it, and it giving power to the motor industry. When we run out of oil, we will need those railway lines…
Some Newage philosophy espouse the concept that everything is perfect, and we might as well accept everything. I think it is a total cop out. Maybe everything in the next dimension is perfect and maybe nothing matters there. However, in our little 3d world, clean water, clean food and a properly operating banking system DO matter, else we can’t survive. So we have to say no to the Frackers and the Monsanto’s and demand a banking that works for all of us.
