The Quintessential Hero’s Journey

If you’ve got amazing skills yet feel like everything is going wrong and it might be time to give up, give in, and throw in the towel, watch the video if you haven’t already done so.
It’s a story of despair, hope, hopes dashed, low points, re-starts, desperation, a lucky break, and the metaphorical happy ending. What you might call the Archetypal Hero’s Journey.

The Woman Behind the Stars

Clearly from the roll call of music celebrities  I know of her even though I’ve never heard of her.
She has an impressive celebrity roll call!

It’s a reminder you can use your skills for yourself or to help other people.  Having done both Sia chose the latter for her own sanity and peace of mind.

10 Tips to Rising Above

At times such as this it can almost feel as though you are drowning in the pit of despair.  For Sia she chose pills and alcohol.  Below are  a few tips, in no particular order, to help you out of a hole:
.
.
  1. Stop and breathe.
  2. If you’re English have a cup of tea because we know how that can be a catalyst for solving everything!
  3. Take a break. In PhotoReading™ terms I call it Incubation; some time away from the problem or issue to clear your head can work wonders.  Go for a walk.  Meditate.  Exercise.  Sit in nature.  Read.  Find your Incubation Break thing.
  4. Remind yourself that despite everything you have made it this far.
  5. If you have a faith, call upon it.
  6. Get into solutions mode and set the intention for the next best step for you. While you wait if you feel as though you are spinning your wheels have more tea.
  7. Step.  It sounds basic but sometimes you just have to put one foot in front of the other and take the next step even if you can’t see the bigger picture.
  8. Keep your focus on what you feel driven to do; in the case of this video it was songwriting.  Identify what the thing is for you.
  9. Talking of songwriting,  if it helps, listen to music.  While I type this I can hear Bon Jovi singing: “Keep the faith.”
  10. Ask for help and support or at least be open to receiving it.

Your Shyness & Awkwardness Doesn’t Have to Hinder You

When they highlighted Sia being shy and awkward it resonated.  I was quiet and shy and lacking in confidence and self-esteem right up until age 32.  Nowadays the problem isn’t getting me to speak but shutting me up (as evidenced by the 635 Facebook Live videos I kind of accidentally uploaded my my Blog last month!)  Prior to my TranceFormation™ I could barely speak to my own family much less be on any kind of stage in front of an audience.
