Whitney Houston, The Grammy Awards & What Her Soul Plan Says About Her Life & Death

Whitney Houston Soul Plan

As I get myself prepared for the next round of  Soul Plan Sessions that I am doing with the clients embarking on the January intake of my TranceFormation Programme I thought I would do a Soul Plan for someone that has passed away, and whose life, well at least aspects of it, we seem to know much about.  (The reason being that you wouldn’t do the Soul Plan of a living person without their permission, and sharing my own Soul Plan seemed a bit ‘me, me, me’).

Given that the Grammy Awards are once again upon us, albeit a little earlier this year, I thought I would choose Whitney Houston, someone whose work has given me much pleasure over the years.  In February 2012 the Grammy’s were marred by the shocking and unexpected death of Whitney Houston.  On that night I remember the confusion of some of the guests as the party and Awards Ceremony carried on in the rooms just below the spot where Houston’s lifeless body lay in the bathroom of her suite.

Whitney’s Soul Plan speaks of ‘addictions’, ‘dependencies in relationships’, the propensity for being attracted to damaged people and alcoholics.  It also picks up on how the imbalanced energies might take a toll on her physical body, and how they might develop addictions in the form of ‘drugs and other stimulants’, something that we know to be true, word for word, from the final autopsy report.

In terms of gifts, goals, and talents, the Soul Plan talks about  being spiritually gifted, having an ‘extraordinary talent’ in their chosen field, a star like quality, the potential for artistic business success and abundance, and the souls push and desire to allow a pure creativity to flow through them and inspire other across the world.

Before we get into Whitney’s Soul Plan I’ll give a very brief overview of the system, and take a look at the actual Soul Plan Chart for Whitney Houston.

What is a Soul Plan?

The Soul Plan is based on the birth name of the person in question, and shows the aspects which influence their life in terms of several key aspects relating to their Worldly and Spiritual Goals and Challenges, their Talents, and ultimately their Soul Destiny and what they are here on this earth to do.

Each Soul Plan is unique and speaks to the potential and attributes of each individual rather than being a hard and fast set in stone set of rules or predictions.  The more you step into and embrace your Goals and Talents, the more the potential Challenges shadows are reduced.   The Soul Plan is worked out numerically based upon the individual name and then addition to the written report, a Soul Plan Chart is also produced.  The Soul Plan Chart for Whitney Houston is below:

Understanding the Soul Plan

The system that I am using here is based on the work of Frank Alper, and modernised by Author and Teacher Blue Marsden.  Typically speaking, the downward triangle relates to the physical and Worldly aspects, usually the first 35 years of life.  The upwards triangle relates to the more Spiritual aspects and comes more into play once challenges have been overcome and people are stepping more into their Talents and Goals.  For a fuller overview and Q&A about Soul Plans see my Blog post entitled: Soul Plan – The Key to Unlocking Your Talents, Destiny and Soul Potential

I will briefly explain each of the 7 aspects of Whitney’s Soul Plan, and share some of the Challenges, Talents, and limiting beliefs associated with these particular combinations.  I could go into a lot more detail however this Blog has already clocked up 3,ooo words so my first attempt at keeping it brief has already been far exceeded!  I do hope however that you find what I have shared makes for interesting and compelling reading.

LONG BLOG ALERT!

This is quite long and in-depth read so if you would prefer to listen rather than read below is the video from one of my radio interviews.

Worldly Challenges: 8-8

The 8-8 is Emotions and Society.

The shape resembles the amoeba and similarly moulds and adapts to its environment.  These are the most powerful earth energies.  The Hebrew letter ‘Chet’ is taken to mean essential life and transcendence.  The strongest earth vibration and literally connects us to the earth and allows us to relate to the planet.  The energy also represents the human potential for bringing the spiritual into the physical world.

When placed in the Worldly Challenge position as it was for Whitney, it denotes a highly sensitive soul with a strong aversion to being here on this earth.  The lack of polarity can lead to serious emotional instability.  Those struggling with the 8-8 Challenges can be ungrounded, detached, overly analytical, and without support, and really stepping fully into their Talents and Goals it is not always an easy challenge.  They might have had some kind of past trauma and therefore or may have experienced suicidal thoughts.  They often old on to both physical possessions (right down to a messy handbag) and emotional baggage.  They can also their own needs because they get too caught up with others, and can also find themselves in co-dependant relationships.  The latter stages of Whitney Houston’s relationship with Bobby Brown and and the dependency which marred their relationship appears to relate to this aspect of her chart.

When they step into the attributes of the 8-8 they can adapt and therefore work in a variety of roles.  They have enormous potential for success and achievement if they choose.

Worldly Talents 11-2

The 11-2 is about Assimilation, Structure and Harmony.

It can relate to physical constructs or spiritual systems and ideas.  It can be a complex structure with many sides and angles.  The polarity for this energy is Life and Death, wisdom and foolishness.  I remember when Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown first got together, many people were shaking their heads in disbelief because of their very different backgrounds, and many publicly commented that they felt it was an unwise decision for a woman who up until that point had seemed almost straightlaced, level headed and some might say wise in terms of the way she had handled herself  publicly in the music industry.

Those who haven’t fully embraced the Talents of the 11-2 can experience mood swings and go from being fully engaged in life to almost feeling cut off, disengaged, and even depressed, feeling somewhat lost  or confused in the world.   There can also be an emotional fragility and vulnerability that needs to be addressed.  There can also be a dependency which may centre around being dependant on other people as props, and for some, as in Whitney Houston’s case, it may extend to a those props being in the form of drugs or other stimulants.  The final autopsy report stated that toxicology testing showed: “cocaine, benzoylecgonice, cocaethylene, marijuana, Xanax, Flexiril, and Benadryl” in her system at the time her her death which does chillingly fit the description of ‘drugs and other stimulants.’

If the 11-2’s get stuck in their Challenges they can be very dependent in their relationships and can be attracted to relationships where they take on the role of a carer to a damaged person, for example an alcoholic.  This pattern can sometimes result in they themselves taking on unhealthy behaviours.  I think in terms of the way that things played out in her relationship with Bobby Brown this was clearly evident, although we do also now know that a relative she cared for very deeply was instrumental in initially introducing Whitney to drugs.

There are specific limiting beliefs associated with each of the Soul Plan combinations.  For the 11-2 these include:

I will mess up . .

I am lost  . .

I need you to help me grow . . .

Success will kill me . . .

Of course, for those that work with limiting beliefs, you will know that if left unresolved they can sometimes almost become self fulfilling prophecies because the holder tends to see the world through the filters of those beliefs even when mountains of evidence exists to the contrary.

Those with the 11-2 energy in this aspect of their chart can have extraordinary talent in their chosen field.  Steve Jobs for instance, the co-founder of Apple also had the 11-2 in the Worldly Talents area as Whitney Houston did.  When in this position, to really flourish, it is necessary to build a strong mental body and mindset.  We know that the inability to do this contributed to Whitney’s untimely death.

Worldly Goals 12-3

The 12-3 represents Love and Knowledge.

In the Worldly Goals position there is a strong drive and goal to accumulate knowledge, and a tremendous desire to learn and explore.  There are also strong maternal qualities, a gift for mothering people, a great love to share, and a desire to help or teach others.  It can also have a spiritual focus even when in the Worldly Goal position.  They make good spiritual teachers and can see the beauty in life.

From what many have said of Whitney Houston, and I recall an interview with the singer Brandy and some of the young up and coming artists the day after her passing, they all spoke of Whitney as being a great support and mentor figure for them, helping to guide them in their careers and giving them advice.

DeVon Franklin, the Producer of Whitney’s final movie described her as being full of love on the movie set and being a great giver and energy for everyone.

The overriding challenge for someone working through the 12-3 is to balance the physical and spiritual aspects of life.  They must overcome their excessive nature otherwise there is a tendency to get out of balance emotionally in order to achieve this.  They are almost here to become balanced in every way yet the emotional component is often key.  Initially things tend to be one extreme or the other for those working through this challenge.  For some a potentially obsessive kink within their nature can lead to them expanding in an obsessive nature or even become quite fanatical, always rushing, never having enough time, and risking burnout.  I suppose in the public and heady business that Whitney Houston was in, time constraints and fast pace were somewhat par for the course.

There can be unconscious recognition of this potential for extremes which then plugs into the fear of failure which can form another major issue.  The result can be a blockage in passion, stuckness and underachievement.  Even for those that do have some early success in life there can be subtle sense of not having fulfilled their potential, a sense of failure and much self-judgement.  They may also experience a great need and seeking for love, and combined with insecurities many will develop a pattern of seeking approval.  They need a lot of reassurance and will seek validation from others.

Sexuality is the associated quality and can sometimes be an issue.  They have a great love to share within and need to share this.  However imbalance may lead to either celibacy and a block on sexuality or an excess of sexual interest, sexual addition, multiple partners, or confusion when choosing a mate.

The limiting beliefs here can include:

I fear my own success . . .

I need your love . .

I need your approval . . .

I am judged. . .

To help balance their potentially chaotic nature they benefit from being coached or guided.  This probably goes some way to explaining the relationship that Whitney developed with her long term friend and mentor Clive Davis.

For anyone recognising this as a challenge, the recommended affirmation is: All of my desires are balanced.  I have passion and feel good about myself.

As the Worldly aspects and possible Challenges are worked through one then steps more into the Spiritual Aspects.

The Spiritual Challenge for Whitney was the 5-5.

The 5-5 represents almost an ethereal foetus entering the physical world, changing and moulding into form.  They are of a high physical vibration with a changeling, otherworldly or even angelic quality; People often described Whitney Houston as having “The voice of an angel”.  It also relates to the expression of creation; something coming into being from spiritual roots.  Having watched interviews with Whitney Houston she always spoke of growing up and singing in church and the benefit and impact of coming from that spiritual background.

It also symbolises a deeper blend of the physical and spiritual.  There is a pioneering quality, and the expression is made up of thought, speech, and action.

In the Challenge position, as it was for Whitney, they may find it difficult to get into the world and fit into the mainstream, almost the Archetypal hermit, never quite integrating into society, having a sense of alienation.  They might lack the motivation and the strength to deal with intangibles in that if they can’t see or feel something a part of them denies and shuts it out.

One might say that addiction is an intangible, and I remember those ‘tells’ of denial in the now infamous Barbara Walters interview all those years ago.

The limiting beliefs for the 5-5 include:

The world is heavy or overwhelming . . .

I will get overwhelmed . . .

I must not speak up . .

I do not fit in . . .

When one really steps into their creativity, intuition, and spiritual aspects and articulates their vision, these challenges become diminished.  This might be one of the reasons why when performers are on stage, there is that sense of freedom and peace, because in those moments the light of their talents outshines the darkness.

Spiritual Talents 9-9

The 9-9 is Peacemaking and Protection

It is represented by the steely serpent symbolising power resistance and protection.  It has an electric quality of someone who is ‘plugged in’.  Those holding this can benefit from a feeling of being spiritually gifted and protected, as though someone is watching over them.  Whitney often spoke of her religious faith as one of the things that would bring her back to centre and that she would hold onto during her most difficult and challenging time.

Those with 9-9 in their Spiritual Talents are excellent channels and healers and harness that more powerfully when they remember that sense of ‘as I serve I will be served.’  When this is a true talent they are usually modest and humble, an in spite of everything that might be going on in their lives it affords them great belief in themselves.

I remember being touched by the speech that Kevin Costner gave at Whitney’s funeral.  He spoke of her doing a take or a scene or performing a song while they were shooting The Bodyguard, and then turning to Kevin and asking if it was OK.  He said he was in awe and found it sweet and touching that she, Whitney Houston, would be asking if her performance was OK.

When in the Talent position this energy will also strengthen all of the other energies in a person’s Soul Plan.  The energy that channels through them can be physically demanding so they need to remember to look after their physical body.

I caught a couple of minutes on a documentary last week which was going through the autopsy report of Whitney Houston.  It showed video footage of Whitney singing what has become one of her signature tunes: I Will Always Love You and then showed comparative footage of her singing live from a time not long before her death where the voices were almost unrecognisable.  The pathologist explained the: “Toll that the addictions had taken on her physical body which would have made it almost impossible for her to reach those depths and notes of days gone by at that particular time.”

With the 9-9  is important to keep the energy flowing otherwise it can be physically demanding if it gets blocked.  The energy is about spiritual connection and service.  In terms of their health, the left kidney, responsible for filtering is the assigned organ.  Part of this is about whether they are filtering their own truth or always listening to the advice and truth of others.  The other assigned health quality for the 9-9 is hearing, and also relates to whether they are listening to their own inner voice and soul or listening too much to others.

During those turbulent relationship years and the downward spiral with Bobby Brown many of those closest to her spoke of being unable to get through to Whitney despite talking to her.  This might partly explain some of the reasons why.

Where the Talents aren’t being fully harnessed the Challenges can lead them to give away their power and have fears and a sense of vulnerability.  Some of the limiting beliefs associated with the 9-9 include:

I need drama to feel alive . . .

I have no power . . .

I hate myself . . .

I can’t trust myself . . .

I remember in one interview when asked, what stands in the way of her remaining drug free, her answer was along the lines of: “Me.  Only me.”

Spiritual Goals 6-6

The 6-6 is the spark converted into a creative reality.  This is the creativity process and connects the spiritual and physical.  The symbol of the convertible knot depicts the spark of light at the top representing an idea which then converts into creative reality made manifest in the world, like a light emanating into the world.  We look to the stars for inspiration, and Whitney Houston was a living star in every sense of the word when she was at her peak and living this Spiritual Goal.  Whitney had the ability to take the words on a piece of paper, fill them with heart and spirit, and create something beautiful in the physical world so I would say that this sums her up perfectly.

When applied to the arts this energy is pure creativity and they have the ability to communicate with a wide remit of people.  They are also excellent manifesters and know what it takes to create abundance.  When the 6-6 is in the Goals position the energy is so strong that there is almost little choice than to follow their desires because the soul is almost pushing them to become totally creative and expansive.  It is more a case of finding a way to express their unique talents.  Thankfully for the world, Whitney Houston found hers.

Those really embodying the positive aspects of the 6-6 as well as being highly creative can have a Zen-like focus and when their mind is set on something they can push on and plough through regardless of any obstacles that might be present.  They benefit greatly from an insightful coach to help them guide and channel all of their creative energy, as well as having some kind of therapeutic outlet such as Hypnotherapy or counselling to address any frustrations, depression or addictions which might occur if the creative energy were to become unbalanced.

A useful affirmation for those who recognise having this energy in the Soul Plan is: ‘The creativity of the universe flows through me as I focus my thoughts on the one purpose illuminated by my soul.’

In addition to the specific affirmations for each aspect of the Soul Plan (I haven’t included them all here) each combination and aspect also suggests specific therapies and methods of self help.   For each of the 7 aspects Whitney’s consistently speak of Hypnotherapy, Emotional Counselling, EFT, Anger Management, relaxation, yoga, and Life Coaching.  Much like that Challenges and traits that you will notice get repeated throughout in Whitney’s case, if you resonate with these issues, you can use these suggestions as a starting point for your own resolution and healing.

Soul Destiny 6-6

Interestingly, Whitney’s Soul Destiny is identical to her Spiritual Goals.  The 6-6 when fully expresses also speaks of being artistically successful in business, and song writing is specifically mentioned as one of the attributes and skills.  When they find a way to express that Talent they can experience the joy of total immersion in their creative endeavours.

When in the Goal and Soul position, they have an enormous incentive to bring everything together and express their life, and purpose and ideas in a creative manner.  I guess when you think about it, that is what music is essentially about, taking one’s life experiences, feelings, challenges, joys, loves, disappointments, and triumphs and bringing it altogether and expressing it in a way that others can benefit.

The ultimate Soul message is to go with the urging of the soul to be totally creative and allow that creativity to flow through you and share your visions with the world to help an inspire others.

I know that despite and in spite of her challenges, and in some respects because of those human frailties, Whitney Houston most certainly was an inspiration to many.  Her angelic voice touched the hearts of millions around the world, and the beauty of what she created with that voice and soul and passion will live on for generations to come.

Whitney Houston Hearse – The Final Public Journey

As the second anniversary of her death approaches I will close this article with saying RIP Whitney Houston, and thank you for dedicating your life to bringing your creativity, gifts, talents and Soul Destiny to the world.

The question just remains, what is your gift, your goal, your talent, and are you stepping into and realising those gifts and bringing them forth into the world or do they reside inside of you silently and patiently waiting for their chance to expressed?

Don’t wait.  Time is short, and none of us quite know what is around the corner or even what today holds.

  1. […] One is to sit quietly, almost in a meditative state, and ask your Soul what your purpose is and what you were born to do.  I know however that some people say they have been asking, and searching, and pondering their entire lives and nada, nothing, zilch.  If that is you, the more practical and sure fire way is to do a Soul Plan Reading.
